Why write about so many seemingly unrelated subjects? My (Great)7Grandfather Isaac Satanow (1732-1804), from Satanov, Poland, did much the same it seems, so perhaps it's genetic. He was a philosopher in the line of Mendelssohn, a leader of the Jewish enlightenment (Haskalah) in Berlin, founder of the "truth and justice" movement there, learned in medieval Christian and ancient philosophy, fascinated by the legend of the Khazars, and an outstanding German-language stylist. The Ethics of Aristotle was first translated into Hebrew, from the Latin of Boethius, by Meir Alguadez of Castile in the early 15th century. Satanow wrote the commentary to the then-newest translation. But he never lost his love for traditional Judaism, and wrote more books in Hebrew than in any other language. These include Sefer Ha-Shorashim, a Hebrew-German dictionary, books of liturgy: Tefillah mi-Kol ha-Shana al Pi Kelalei ha-Dikduk, Haggadah Shel Pesah; and Selihot; as well as Mishlei Asaf and Zemirot Asaf, collections of proverbs in the fashion of the Book of Proverbs. In his book, Iggeret Beit Tefillah, he categorized the language of the prayers.

Jest to relacja z najbardziej zdumiewających badań naukowych, jakie kiedykolwiek przeprowadzono. W Księdze Rodzaju znaleziono zakodowane ważne nazwiska, daty i wydarzenia historyczne.

RADIATING EFFECTS

ON THE MORAL ORDER

"Are ethical norms objective and discovered by us, or do they merely reflect judgments about subjective impressions or societal agreements? The essays contained in this volume…tackle the concrete problems that arise in clinical practice."

Chapter One: The Biology of Homosexuality:

Science or Politics?

“This is by far the finest analysis of homosexuality I have ever read. It is gracious, kind, and compassionate to those with whom the authors disagree. It is also marked with scholarly rigor. I highly recommend it. The essays by Satinover, Arkes, George, and Coolidge are alone worth the price of the book.”

—Francis J. Beckwith, Ph.D., Fellow of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions, Department of Politics, Princeton University; Co-editor of the Monograph Series in Bioethics (Eerdmans).

This work addresses parents whose children believe themselves to be attracted sexually to persons of the same sex, and it involves many aspects of the complex issues surrounding homosexuality and the homosexual movement. Renowned scholars in scripture, dogmatic and moral theology, philosophy, canon and civil law, pastoral theology, and psychology and psychiatry address the many aspects of the subject with care, sensitivity, and clarity. Although this work is written primarily by Catholics and aimed principally at a Catholic audience, much of what is written is applicable to parents of any religious persuasion.

After an introductory essay that sets the cultural stage for the present, the work is broken down into parts on science ("The Biological Truth about Homosexuality" by Jeffrey Satinover (a Jewish scholar), "The Gay Deception" by Joseph Nicolosi, and "Does Homosexuality Nullify a Marriage?" by Msgr. Cormac Burke), morality ("Scripture and Homosexuality" by Kevin E. Miller, "The Theology of Hetero- and Homosexuality," by Benedict Ashley, O.P., and "An Intrinsically Disordered Inclination" by John Finnis), law ("‘Life Partners’ Legislation" by Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua, "Domestic Partners Legislation" by the late John Cardinal O’Connor, and "Same-Sex Marriage: Our Final Answer?" by Gerard V. Bradley), pastoral considerations ("The Teaching of the Church" by Helen Hull Hitchcock, "Calling One’s Self ‘Gay’ or ‘lesbian’ Clouds One’s Self-Perception" by Alan P. Medinger, and "Questions and Answers for Parents of Persons with Same-Sex Attractions" by John F. Harvey, OSFS). Also enclosed is a transcript of the misguided "Always Our Children" video and an essay on this revision by Fr. Harvey.

Fr. Harvey is director of Courage, a Catholic homosexual-recovery agency. Gerard Bradley is professor of law, University of Notre Dame Law School, and past president of the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars.
